If you haven’t yet seen a quirky little gem of a film called “Assassin in Love,” find it, buy or download it, and watch it. Now.
Damian Lewis stars as Milo, a hit man who desperately wants to put his past as a professional killer behind him. Oh, and he’d like to find love and settle down, as well.
He ends up in a tiny Welsh village, and declares himself the new baker. But the villagers soon learn he’s a professional hit man, and refer to him behind his back as “The Baker.” Just go to Milo’s bakery, they whisper, and order a cake – and “The Baker” will ensure that your loved one, neighbor, parent, whatever, is efficiently dispatched. Whacked. Offed.
Milo learns to bake bread, and doughnuts, and cakes, and discovers he really likes to bake. He’s thrilled with the flood of orders… strangely, all of them for chocolate cake. He meets Rhiannon, the village veterinarian, and sparks fly. She doesn’t know about his past, and he doesn’t tell her.
But of course when she finds out the truth about Milo, the real trouble begins…
All Milo wants is a second chance, an opportunity to reinvent himself and leave his past behind. Everyone needs that second chance sometimes. We all screw up. We all make mistakes, and it’s great to hear someone say, “It’s okay. Forget it,” and know that we’ve been forgiven… even if, sometimes, we don’t deserve it.
So rent, buy, or download “Assassin in Love” to see if Milo gets his second chance. It’s a great film with a quirky, entertaining plot that’ll keep you guessing right up to the end.
You’ll never look at pickled eggs in quite the same way again.
